A cultural stop at the Maison Musée Gauguin
Just 700 meters from your campsite in Clohars Carnoët, the Maison Musée Gauguin is well worth a visit. This museum houses a reconstruction of the Buvette de la Plage, the place where Paul Gauguin and other painters stayed in 1889 and 1890. These artists, the originators of synthesism, a pictorial style of their own, began painting the walls, ceilings and windows of the inn’s dining room.

The “goose” painted by Gauguin on one of these walls, right in the plaster, remains one of the most incredible decorative ensembles of this period. Through staging and sound creations, enjoy a unique experience. The museum retraces the painter’s life through a guided tour, digital tablets and painters’ notebooks. During the summer, visitors can take part in activities, walks and art workshops. The Maison Musée Gauguin is open from May to the end of October. In July and August, the museum is open daily from 11am to 7pm.
