Discover the port of Doëlan near camping le Pouldu

Just 7 km from our campsite in Clohars-Carnoët, the little port of Doëlan is one of the most picturesque spots in southern Brittany. It reveals itself like a postcard setting, nestled in a ria and framed by two emblematic lighthouses. Like the painters it has often inspired, hikers love to stroll along the harbor’s shores to immerse themselves in this enchanting landscape.

What to do in the port of Doëlan

Situated between the Laïta estuary and the Belon ria, Doëlan-sur-Mer is one of the must-see places within a stone’s throw of the campsite. Its authentic port offers a whole host of activities, to suit all tastes and interests.

Here are our suggestions of what you can do at the port of Doëlan:

Admire the two lighthouses marking the entrance to the ria: the white and green lighthouse on the left bank and the white and red lighthouse on the right bank offer two different viewpoints.
For a moment of relaxation, take the path that leads to the beautiful beaches nearby.
Savor local specialties in the port’s restaurants, starting with the famous Belon oyster. Of course, you’ll also find delicious traditional crêperies.
From either bank of the ria, take a hike to discover the port of Doëlan from a different angle.
And for a bit of action, in summer you’ll find introductory sessions to waterjumping, i.e. jumping into the water on a mountain bike!

Discover the Doëlan coastal path

The coastal paths allow you to explore the most beautiful corners of the coastline on either side of the port of Doëlan. There are a number of options, depending on your level of fitness and walking time.

If you follow the GR34, known as the Douaniers trail, you can reach the little port of Merrien by heading west. This corresponds to a 7 km itinerary. From the east, you can return to our campsite in Le Pouldu. It’s an easy hike, covering 6 km and offering a magnificent iodized walk.

For keen walkers, another option is to leave from the port of Doëlan and head for Moëlan-sur-Mer. To reach the Kerfany beach, at the mouth of the ria du Belon, you’ll need to cover 22 km. That’s a full-day hike .
